It’s time to see who is going to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, it won’t be my Miami Dolphins. And also, Jerry’s team, the Cowboys, won’t be there either. Sorry Cowboy fans but you know you are the team we all love to hate on. Anyway, let’s dive into these two games right quick.
KC vs Baltimore
In the 1st matchup of the day, it’s the Chiefs vs the Ravens. It’s the battle of the All World, two time Super Bowl champion and undisputed best QB in the NFL Patrick Mahomes vs two time MVP Lamar Jackson. This is it for Lamar. He needed to get a playoff win in these playoffs and he has. But this is his and Baltimore’s time to win it all or at least get to the big game. They are as good as they’ve ever been since Lamar has taken over as the starting QB. And KC is a much lesser version of their former SB teams, offensively at least. This is the year. If Lamar and Baltimore can’t get it done this year, when will it happen. KC is still going to be the top dog as long as Andy and Mahomes are around. But you also have Josh Allen and Buffalo, Joe Burrow and Cincinatti and then the young CJ Stroud and Houston are on their way too. Let’s not forget that the Browns, Dolphins, Steelers, Chargers and Jets are still lurking. The time is now.
As for the Chiefs, they are just doing what they do, winning. It’s not as impressive as it used to be but they are still getting it down. As said before, as long as they have Patrick and Andy on top of their game, they’ll always be formidable. The offense is not as good as it used to be, especially with Tyrek Hill gone and Travis Kelce aging. However, the defense is as good as it’s been in this run. Defense travels. So we’ll see how this one turns out.
I have Baltimore winning, 29-23.
Detroit vs San Fran
In the 2nd game, we have the long suffering Detroit Lions vs the San Francisco 49ers. It’s been different watching Detroit win at this level. And now they are one win away from making it to the Super Bowl. Can Jared Goff get this team over this hump too? The postseason is where legends are made. Goff can erase those bad memories of the Rams trading him away because he couldnt get it done. He can show that he is very worthy of being that no. 1 pick of the 2016 draft if he can take two different teams to the Super Bowl. He needs to use that chip on his shoulder from the Rams trade to drive this Lions team one step further. And with that running back combination of Montgomery and Gibbs, Aiden Hutchinson rushing the passer and the motivation of Dan Campbell, winning this game is very much in play.
As for San Francisco, they need to get it done. They are in a position like the Ravens where this seems to be their year. They have all the weapons and a quarterback on a rookie contract. Yes, Deebo Samuel isn’t at his best but you still have that main guy in McCaffrey back there to be a swiss army knife.
Let’s not forget about Kittle and Aiyuk and that defense that features the unstoppable Joey Bosa. Brock Purdy also has a chance to continue his really impressive run from when he took over the quarterback position in 2022. There’s nothing wrong with being a game manager. Game managers get the ball out on time, to the right person and on target. Keep managing the game Brock. Hey Shanahan, show that you can make in-game adjustments and help put these guys in position to win. It’s time for San Fran to get it done and make it to another Super Bowl too!
I have this one going down to the wire and I have no prediction. I am just going to enjoy the game and see what happens.
And let the Championship games begin. Enjoy.
