Hey yall. Usually this is reserved for sports talk. But this time, I thought it would be a good place to do something a little different. We have our family reunion coming up soon in Louisville Kentucky, a place most of us have never been. Outside of the two events that are planned on Friday afternoon and Saturday evening, we will have a lot of free time on our hands. I’ve spoken to a senior family member and she had some grumblings on the lack of a full itinerary (I’m sure you can guess who I talked to). So I’ve taken it upon myself to draft a potential plan to explore the city and some of it’s sites. Here goes.
Friday – Day of the Fish Fry (from 1 PM – 5 PM)
Possibly Itinerary for those already there:
- Breakfast – around 9:00 ish
- Noon: Muhammad Ali Center (open from 12:00-5:00PM) – visit there around 12:00 or so. Admission is $18 for Adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for students- (ages 6+ with student ID). The Muhammad Ali Center | Louisville, KY | Skolnick
Muhammad Ali Center
- Daytime: Fish Fry/Family picnic – participate around 3:00 ish or whenever we get back from the Ali center. Detroit Family should also be arriving around 3:00 or so.
- Friday Evening: 4th Street Live – Looks like there will be live music and plenty of places to eat.
4th Street Live
- Stevie Ray’s Blues Bar – Here’s a place that plays Blues and Jazz music. We may not have time for this but I sure would like to check it out. I’m a huge Stevie Ray Vaughn and Blues music fan.
Saturday – Day of the Family Dinner ( 6:00)
Possible destination sites for Saturday
- Trolley City Tour – 90 minute tour through the city- ($30)
Trolley departure times:
11:00 AM
1:00 PM
3:00 PM
The tours leave promply from the start site (Galt House Hotel). I’ve done a little research and it takes about 20 minutes to get from the hotel most of us will be staying at (Holiday Inn East) to the Galt House Hotel. We will probably want to leave an hour before tour time, if any of us choose to go. I think I might just snag up 6-10 tickets to make sure this option is available when we are there. Other sites
- Kentucky Kingdom Water Park; Theme Park Rides & Attractions | Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay
- WaterFront Park and other places; Park Features – Waterfront Park (ourwaterfront.org) If I play my cards right and don’t hang out too much on Friday night (big if), maybe I can do the 11:00 trolley ride and then hit the Waterfront. Is that too much site seeing before the 6:00 dinner? Maybe so.
- Family Dinner @ 6:00 PM
Saturday Night – Maybe this is when I will visit the SRV Blues Bar. We will see.
And that wraps it up this blog post/possible itinerary.
Seems like Louisville could be a nice city to visit. I should have planned to get there on Wednesday evening. I’ve never been and there seems like there could be plenty to do over the weekend. Regardless, I will enjoy family. food and good times. Thanks for checking me out on this site. For more information on Louisville, check this out.
