This is the stuff legends are or could be made of. We have two game 7s in the 2nd round of the NBA, on the same day! One game is in the Eastern Conference, no longer the L-eastern Conference. The other game is in the Western Conference. Giannis vs Tatum in Boston is the first game. Then, later in the day we have Luka vs Booker & CP3 in Phoenix. How will this turn out? In part 1, let’s take a look at the Eastern conference matchup.

Hortford guards Giannis

This series has been sooo good. Will Tatum continue his rise and cement himself as a Bonafide superstar in this league and a top 5 player? Or will Giannis continue to reign supreme and show why he is a two-time MVP and one time NBA champion? This series has lived up to the hype. Tatum has taken a leap this year and it’s not because of his scoring. He is more willing to make plays for others around him than he has been in the past. And he will also take on the biggest defensive assignment if he needs to, as he did in the Brooklyn series against Kevin Durant. But will they have enough to get past a veteran, Championship Bucks team? Will Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown be the key to a win? Or will it be Derrick White or Al Hortford to come through?

Sure, Giannis can score 50 points and collect 20 rebounds in a closeout game. But he is going to need Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez to be co-pilots in order to drive this one home. Although Giannis can score a bunch of points, he is also going to have to be more of a willing passer this game and set up his teammates for easier shots. Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton can surely be X-factors if they get going from 3-point land.

Something tells me that this game is going to come down to the 6th, 7th and 8th man on one team or another getting hot in the game. It could be Payton Pritchard or it could be Wesley Matthews to make the big plays down the stretch. Let the games begin! For Part 2, click here.
