Today is one of the greatest overreaction day in sports. It’s the following Monday after the opening NFL Sunday. We all get a little too excited or too depressed and make some bold statements based on one game, the very 1st game of the season. Sometimes we are right and sometimes we are dead wrong. We never truly know until things play out. Here’s a look at some overreactions.
Overrection #1
The Cowboys are Super Bowl Contenders
Oh come on. Slow down. It was just one game. Let’s see how the offense operates when they are not spotted a couple of TDs by the Special Teams and Defensive units. They did well but we all know that offense still has something to prove.
Overreaction #2
Deshawn Watson is back! Well, he led his team to victory against a very good opponent. But he only threw for 154 yards and was sacked 3 times. However, I won’t continue to bash a guy unless he deserves it. Watson threw for one TD and ran for another. That’s a promising start for him and Cleveland, at least right now.
Overreaction #3
The Steelers are frauds!
Time will tell on this one. San Fran was a pretty good team last season and they are very motivated. Their defense was in the top 3 for all of last season and constantly shut teams down. And their offense was top notch too. The Steelers just ran into a team that played like it has played multiple games together, under the same game plan, with the same players and the same coaches. I don’t think the Steelers are the team we should be looking at. We should talk up this 49er team and wonder how good they are going to be this season.
In other news, man that was an exciting back and forth game between the Dolphins and Chargers.
Jordan Love and the Packers dominated the Bears. NE pulled close to the Eagles but they couldn’t pull it out in the end.
Watch Geno Smith fear for his life and yell “Oh my God!” as he saw Aaron Donald bearing down on him.
Hey, it’s only week 1. Let’s not overreact too much to what we saw on the first Sunday of NFL action. It’s always fun when the team you are rooting for actually wins though. On to week 2.
Later.
