Hey yo. Sorry to take so long in between posts. Just been busy with life and work and sports. Speaking of sports, let’s get to the NFL season. We’re in week 12 now. Here’s some things that I think I know (and a few items I still may not know).
The 1st thing that I think I know
I think I know that the Detroit Lions are a monster team. I went to one of their games against the Arizona Cardinals and boy was I impressed with their offensive line. They have two good running backs in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. The most impressive thing though was they probably have the best offensive line in football. There’s one thing I kept seeing over and over; a clean pocket for Jared Goff to deliver pass after pass. Goff has the cleanest pocket in the NFL when he uses the play action fake to either one of those backs. Just check out a few minutes of this action here:
I worry about the Lions if Goff starts getting pressured more often. However, as long as they can run the ball effectively, that play action passing game will continue to thrive.
The 2nd thing that I think I know
I think Tua should wear that extra big helmet (guardian hat/cap/helmet) or retire. I don’t care if his helmet is already special made. That didn’t stop him from suffering his latest concussion in week 2. He’s obviously super competitive and will continue to run the ball on 4th down when his WRs are covered. And if he keeps doing it, sooner or later he’s going to get hit in the head again. The defenders are taking it easy on him right now. I watch every game. No one wants to be the person that severely injures Tua. They will only take him down hard when it’s neccessary. Here are the guardian caps below.

Sure, no one wants to stand out and look soft in football. Who cares. Wear the dang cap Tua!
The 3rd thing that I think I know
I think I know that no matter who the Steelers have on their roster, they will always play to their maximum capability. You know how good a coach is by how often he maximizes the talent he has on his roster. It’s easy to maximize the talent once or when everything falls into place perfectly. Try doing it when you don’t have a starting QB or an imaginative, intuitive offensive play caller. Or, when 3 starters on your defense or offense gets injured. A really good coach wins year after year because he knows how to get the best out of the players on the team. And also because he teaches and preaches discipline. And of course because he has a tough minded and physically tough team, which is usually a reflection of it’s coaches and team leaders.
The 4th thing that I think I know
I think I know that the Chiefs won’t win it all this year. They just won’t. Kelce looks like he’s been enjoying the carbs a little too much. Mahomes magic won’t last all the time. Andy Reid can’t keep calling a great game. The defense and special teams are not going to keep making game changing plays. Or will they? Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. We’ll see.
The 5th thing that I think I know
Aaron Rodgers is done. No need to say more. We all know it. Even his owner knew it in the first month of the season.
The 6th thing that I think I know
I think Jayden Daniels is going to be an MVP at some point in his career, if he stays healthy.
The 7th thing that I think I know
I think I know that Lamar better get to the AFC championship game this year. I don’t care if he has to start in the wildcard round and play every game on the road. It’s time for him to turn a corner when it comes to winning big games.
Come on Lamar!
The 8th thing that I think I know
I think that Anthony Richardson has learned his lesson about tapping out at the QB position. I thought it was a good move to get Flacco in there as the starter (even if Flacco did stink up the joint and turn back into a pumpkin). The team leadership showed him that he wasn’t getting it done. Don’t talk about it, be about it. And Indy’s leadership did just that. And they put him back in the starting lineup too, since you know, Flacco was a turnover machine. Good for Richardson for taking the demotion, learning and then coming back and having an efficient game, in a win.
Side note- Bryce Young is 2-0 after he was benched for a veteran (Andy Dalton) and then placed back into the starting lineup later on. Maybe taking a step back was what both of these young QBs needed.
The 9th thing that I think I know
That freaking Jim Harbaugh can coach. The Chargers are a totally different team now that he is their Head Coach. Let’s see if he can prove me right and guide this team into the playoffs over these next 6 weeks.
The 10th thing that I think I know
I think the Giants, Jets and Browns don’t know how to be successful at building solid football cultures that will yield good football teams. These teams can’t get out of their own way, whether it’s letting great players get away and signing bad QBs (Giants). Or whether it’s trading and overpaying a troubled QB (Browns) that was severely overhyped for his limited winning. Or whether it’s trading for an aging QB (Jets) that his old team (Packers) couldn’t wait to get rid of so they could take their team culture, flexibility, coachability and creativity back. These teams are the anti Rooney/Cowher/Tomlin Steelers and the anti Kraft/Belichick/Brady Patriots. They just can’t get right boss.
And those are my Ten things that I think I know. Let’s get ready for another fun week of football. Talk to you all soon. Over and out.
