It’s playoff time. The regular season is over in the NFL and it was another fun one, as it always is. Now we’ll get to see who can make a real run at the Superbowl trophy. There’s a saying; The regular season is where you make your name but the playoffs is where you make your fame. Who will step up? There are a few favorites and all it takes is for one of those teams to get hot and go on a roll to the bowl. Let’s look at the Wildcard matchups this weekend and discuss what I think will happen.

Seattle @ San Francisco- Saturday @ 4:30 Eastern

Seattle has had a nice season, especially after trading away Russell Wilson for a nice package of draft picks and releasing Bobby Wagner. Nobody expected anything from them this season but Pete Carroll and Geno Smith defied the odds with this young team. Good for them but this is where their season comes to an end. Speaking of teams getting hot, is there any team hotter in the league than San Fran? They are coming into this playoffs with 10 straight wins and a 3rd string quarterback at the helm. For the last pick in the draft, Brock Purdy sure does looks like the real deal. I think this one will be closer than people think but I say San Fran outlasts Seattle, 24-16.

LA Chargers @ Jacksonville- Saturday @ 8:30 Eastern

Zay Jones with the run after the catch

As in the 1st game, we have two quarterbacks who will both be going to the playoffs for the 1st time. The difference in this game is that we have two 1st round picks from recent drafts, Justin Herbert in 2020 & Trevor Lawrence in 2021. Who’s coming out on top? Both teams have “end of the season momentum” with Jacksonville winning their last 5 games and the Chargers winning 5 of their last 6 games. I have no clue who’s going to win this one but I say Jacksonville is the tougher team and pulls it out down the stretch. Final score, Jacksonville wins 27-24.

Miami @ Buffalo- Sunday @ 1:00 Eastern

I think everyone who knows me or have read any of these football articles knows who I am rooting for in this one. That being said, there will be no Tua, no Mostert, Armstead the left Tackle is hurt, Waddle is questionable and the overrated Nick Chubb is questionable. I don’t see this one ending on my side. Yes Buffalo has injuries too but they still have that Bad Boy Josh Allen throwing to that Ace of Spade Stefon Diggs. Miami doesn’t have enough healthy bodies to make this one interesting. Buffalo wins this one easily, 30-13. I hope I’m wrong!

NY Giants @ Minnesota- Sunday @ 4:30 Eastern

Barkley takes the handoff from Danny Boy Jones

Although this isn’t the juiciest matchup, it could be the most competitive game of the weekend. Not too many people trust Kurt Cousins in big moments but I’m not sure we can trust Daniel Jones either. I’m just hoping for a few nice Saquon Barkley runs and a couple of nice Justin Jefferson catches during the game. In their matchup a few weeks ago, Minnesota won 27-24. I have this game being close to the same score with Minnesota winning 27-20.

Baltimore @ Cincinatti – Sunday @ 8:30 Eastern

No Lamar, No Chance! Joe Burrow (Another Bad Boy), Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins (an Ace of Spades & a King of Hearts) will reign supreme. Cincinatti wins 31-17. This is a division rivalry and these teams don’t like each other. Cincinatti still wins, 24-20.

Dallas @ Tampa Bay- Monday Night @ 8:15 Eastern

Everyone is intrigued by this one. The analysts on TV are picking both teams. They are also saying if Dallas loses, Mike McCarthy will most likely be fired. Pundits want to know if Dak will continue throwing interceptions. Also, we all want to know if Brady will turn into superhuman and make another Super Bowl run. It’s going to be superhyped going into Monday Night. Well, I don’t think it will be that close. I think Dallas wins by double digits and have everyone talking Super Bowl again, before they lose in the next round, soundly. But this is about Monday Night and I say Dallas wins, 27-17.

That will do it for the weekend’s matchups. Hopefully the matchups are more entertaining than they look on paper. We shall see. A-blee a-blee a-blee…and that’s all folks (Bugs Bunny style)! See ya next time.
